Hareruia (Choral)

Unfortunately I was unable to share this video with you. This is the choral our tamariki have been learning.
Hareruia or famously known as Hallelujah.
Toro Mai
Waiata a-ringa (action song)

Our tamariki are familiar with the lyrics to this waiata, as it is a waiata known to the whole school. Therefore, we have taught our kids the actions to this waiata.

TE RINA POMARE (Poi)

This song is called 'Te Rina Pomare'. You will find information about who composed this waiata and what it means via 'Google search'.
Our girls have been learning the lyrics to this song, we have only been practising the first part of the waiata, and we have slowed the tempo down as well. We have also simplified the poi actions to suit our girls as they learn the basic skills and movements of the poi and wrist.

Introduction

Te Roopuu Kapa Haka o Te Puuawai.

Kia Ora whanau!

We have created this blog to update our Kapa Haka members about our up and coming Fiafia Night performance next week.

We will be uploading waiata (song) lyrics, links to the audio of these waiata, as well as practices performed during school hours, by our students involved.

With less than two weeks to prepare for this performance, our students and teachers have worked very hard to support our members as they prepare themselves.

Poi and costumes have been made, therefore it is crucial that you support  and encourage your child to practice at home.

Although the poi are for practice purposes, we have been teaching our students that it is to be used for Kapa Haka ONLY. They have been spoken to about how to use them properly, and a brief history of how the poi has changed overtime has been discussed.

During this week, we will be informing you of their progress, and panui will also be uploaded for your information.
